I first encountered homeopathy about 15 years ago, when I consulted a homeopath to help with my children’s continuous colds and respiratory infections. It was my first experience with alternative medicine of any kind. I was somewhat skeptical, but I knew that my traditional pediatrician had nothing to offer me to help my son combat these infections, recover sooner or stop getting them altogether! I discovered that homeopathy did offer acute care to recover from illnesses, and long-term health and vitality. During our years of working together, my homeopath did more than just treat my children; he opened my eyes to the elegant, complex and powerful healing system of homeopathy. As I became increasingly interested with homeopathy, I started to secretly dream about practicing homeopathy myself. When I told my homeopath about it, he strongly encouraged me to pursue it, and a light bulb clicked on. Right then, I felt my whole life had been leadingup to that moment. My interest in science, botany, zoology, psychology and my years of being a practicing artist and mother of two children had prepared me perfectly for this.Homeopathy combines art, science and medicine, and requires many diverse skills including critical thinking, determination, intuition, compassion, love and the inability to be put off by detailed descriptions of bodily fluids. That very November night I signed up for school, and just like that – my dream came true.

Now I am a certified classical homeopath with a family practice in San Anselmo, California.I am a graduate of the Berkeley Institute of Homeopathy, with additional years of training atthe Pacific Academy of Homeopathy and the Luminos School of Homeopathy. I also  completed an intensive homeopathic program at The Other Song Academy in Mumbai, India with world-renowned educator and homeopath, Rajan Sankaran. In addition to my two years of practical clinical training through school, I completed a 16-month internship withDr. Ifeoma Ikenze, MD, a medical doctor with a homeopathic family practice in Marin County.

Currently, I am a frequent guest collaborator and parent educator at Pediatric Alternatives, apediatric medical practice in Mill Valley. I have taught at the Berkeley Institute ofHomeopathy, I supervise homeopathic students, I consult for the Council for Homeopathic Certification, and frequently speak on homeopathy at industry seminars, elementary and middle schools in Marin.

Prior to embarking on my homeopathic education, I earned a Masters degree in Fine Arts from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA and a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, NYC. I am a proud native of California with deep roots in San Francisco that go back 5 generations. My husband and two sons are my deepest source of inspiration and determination, as well as perspiration.

Case:
I recently had a case of a 9 year-old girl with chronic stomach pain that was interfering withher ability to attend school. At the time of our first meeting, she was missing school 50% ofthe time, and was often being picked up in the middle of the day with stomach pain. The stomach pains came on at any time; at home, with friends and during the summer, butthey especially came on before and during school. She was a precocious, passionate andsensitive child, drawn to creativity and had a strongly jealous nature. She was very sensitive to criticism and in the normal course of a class, took her teacher’s attempt to teach her as acriticism. The girl was demanding to leave school altogether and learn entirely on her own, without a teacher of any kind. She felt she was completely capable of teaching herself all she needed to know, and she was only in 3rd grade! Her mother was seriously considering this request, but she was not sure what to do. She felt anxious that school could be “hurting” her child. This was an extremely charged situation, and I understood that the girl must feel very strongly to have such an extreme reaction.

I prescribed Lachesis for this theatrical, jealous, sensitive and passionate young girl, and asked to see her again in a month. In a month’s time, the stomach aches were 90% gone, and she was going to school with only a little bit of grumbling. After 4 months, the mother reported that the stomach aches were completely gone, and she had not picked her up from school at all in 2 months. Additionally, her daughter was spontaneously saying that she was enjoying school, and felt very competent, even in math, her least favorite subject. Additionally, she is less jealous with her friends and expressing herself in positive and productive ways, such as theater.
